Department of the Year 🏆
I’m so proud to have been part of the Loughborough Computer Science Department Committee this year, and having collectively set out this award as our end-goal for this year last June, it feels like the right way to end this year!
From our very first events, such as the Freshers’ Fair and scavenger hunt welcoming new students in, to socials, workshops, sporting events, and everything in between: this year has been a testament to what a team of passionate, dedicated, and hard-working people can build together.
Basketball league winners. Staff-student karaoke for Movember. Academic workshops. The School of Science Ball. Pub socials. Free cookie socials. And so much more. Every event was a chance to bring people together, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we created as a committee.
None of this happens without every single person who showed up, got involved, and made this community what it is - committee and non-committee alike.
A special shout-out to all the committee members who made this possible: Jeevan Ganatra, Heechan Yang, Marwan Jalali, Bartek Czajkowski, Nupur Barve, Sean Jamieson, Jessica Cheung.
And a special shout-out to our chair, Jonathan Watkinson, who has been the beating heart of the department the whole year through organisation, motivation, and passion.
(And shout-out to Peter Lloyd for standing in for Bartek Czajkowski when his schedule was too busy to attend events, an honourary committee member who served his role well!)
